of 100A and runs at 750 rpm. The resistance of the

armature winding and of shunt field winding is0.1 Ω

and 40Ω respectively. Find the torque developed by the

(ii) Explain the basic nature of the emf induced in

the armature of a DC machine. (4)

(iii)How can the alternating current waveform in

the armature be converted into a DC waveform? (4)

8. A 25kW, 250V, dc shunt generator has armature

and field resistances of 0.06 ohm and 100 ohm

respectively. Determine the total armature power

developed when working (i) as a generator delivering
